  • Compared to other varieties that ripen in late October, Cangzhou ripens a full month earlier and therefore reliably produces high-quality fruit even when grown outside lowland areas, where the growing season is shorter. This early-ripening, large-fruited variety belongs to the group known as PCNA (Pollination Constant Non-Astringent), meaning the fruit can be eaten immediately after ripening on the tree (it does not need to ripen indoors after being picked).
  • Origin: China
  • Growth habit: moderately vigorous; at ten years old, the tree reaches a height of 4–5 m
  • Flowering period: June; this variety is self-pollinating and bears fruit even without a pollinator
  • Fruit: large, 180–200 g, orange-red in color; belongs to a group of varieties with sweet, very tasty flesh
  • Ripening period: The advantage is that it ripens as early as late September, so there is no need to wait for the fruit to lose its astringency
  • Fruitfulness: Moderately high, consistent. Begins bearing fruit in the 4th year after planting.
  • Disease resistance: reliably resistant to pest and fungal disease attacks; no chemical protection is necessary during the growing season
  • Frost resistance: down to -20°C; frost protection is recommended for the first two years after planting
  • Rootstock: Virginia persimmon - Diospyros virginiana
