- Mespilus germanica 'Boom en Vrucht', a slow-growing medlar, is a deciduous tree with an open, sinuous, flattened crown, it can reach a height of up to 6 meters. Medlar can reach a respectable age on a fruit tree.
- The dark green leaf is lanceolate with a hairy underside and a serrate leaf edge.
- In autumn, the leaves change color from reddish brown to golden orange.
- White saucer-shaped flowers appear in May to June.
- After flowering, brown edible fruits develop. These can be collected in November and December.
- The medlar 'Boom en Vrucht' prefers a position in the sun or partial shade.
- Grows on any normal soil.
- Withstands temperatures down to -20 degrees Celsius.
