- Winter pear tree with medium to large fruits with yellow, soft, juicy, buttery, melting flesh with a sour-sweet, pleasantly spicy taste; suitable for versatile use - direct consumption, cider making, drying, distillation and jam production; moderately resistant to frost and mold.
- Rootstock: wild pear tree
- ORIGIN: Belgium, early 19th century
- GROWTH: vigorous growth, forms a spherical, relatively dense crown. Bears fruit in clusters
- POLLINATION: cross-pollinating; good pollinator for other varieties. Suitable pollinators: Williams.
- FRUITING: relatively early (6th-8th year), consistent, medium high.
- FRUIT: medium to large (weight 100-120 to 200-250 g). The surface of larger fruits is irregular, bumpy to angular. The skin is rough and smooth, not very shiny, light green, later yellow and golden yellow on the sunny side and sometimes reddish, covered with conspicuous lenticels over the entire surface, sometimes with rusty spots/stripes. The flesh is yellow, soft, dense, juicy, buttery, sour-sweet in taste, sweeter in southern areas, pleasantly spicy, melting.
- MATURATION: harvest at the end of October, consumption maturity: fruit from southern areas in December, others later.
- USE: direct consumption, cider making, drying, distillate and jam production; can be stored without loss of flavor until February.
- LOCATION: the variety requires a warm, sheltered location and high-quality, fertile soil. It grows in cold areas, but the fruits do not ripen, crack, and have a beet-like taste.
- RESISTANCE: The variety is moderately resistant to frost and mold. In unsuitable conditions, it is susceptible to scab.
