- Formerly classified as a variety of C. nobilis Lour. subsp. suntara var. kagoshimensis.
- Prof. T. Tanaka gave it the status of a botanical species.
- A spreading tree, medium-sized. Fruits medium-sized, strongly flattened (4.5-7.5 cm), with a furrow, pericarp dark yellow, rough, weaker, easily peeled, easily puffed.
- Pulp amber yellow, soft, sweet, has 9 segments, hollow seed column and medium number of seeds.
- It is grown in Japan, is very cold-resistant, and is also used as a rootstock.
