A type of persimmon (kaki) originating from Sev. America.
Of all persimmon species, it is the most frost-resistant, growing even as far south as Canada.
Tolerates winter temperatures down to -30°C. The fruits are smaller than the well-known kaki fruits (Japanese persimmon), are about 5 cm and taste similar to apricots.
They ripen normally in our conditions.
The soil should be neutral with enough nutrients and moisture.
Although this persimmon is frost-resistant and can be grown in the Czech Republic, the young leaves will burn even in light frost.
However, persimmons usually only germinate at the end of April and the beginning of May, so this is not too dangerous.
The plant is dioecious, so a male and female individual is needed.
